Our U.L. rated burglary-resistant safes meet specific weight, material,
lock, and wall thickness guidelines. U.L. Ratings are also based on the
time and tools it takes a safe expert to break into the safe.
The "TL" means the safe model withstood a burglary attempt
by a safe expert employing commonly used hand held burglar tools burglars
such as drills hammers, and screwdrivers. TL-30 and higher rated safes
are also built to withstand more sophisticated attacks such as acetylene
torches.
The "15" or "30" indicates how many continuous minutes
the tested safe model withstood an attack.
U.L. testing does not take into account the time it takes a burglar to
break into a building, find the safe, or set up and change tools. Testing
also doesn't take into account the stealth which a burglar must use to
avoid detection. U.L. testors typically have more knowledge, better tools,
 more
freedom, and no risk of going to prison. Under realistic circumstances,
it wouldn't be unusual for a properly installed TL-15 to withstand a burglary
attack for two or more hours.
